Nine people have been shot with three victims in a critical condition after a mass shooting incident in Denver, Colorado.
This comes as riot police were deployed to the streets to deal with raucous crowds celebrating their local team - The Nuggets - winning the NBA.
They clinched their first NBA title with a 94-89 win over Miami Heat.
Amid the celebrations, a shootout erupted just over a kilometre from the arena, leaving nine people injured.
An update from the Denver police said: "Nine total gunshot victims have been identified from the shooting in the 2000 Block of Market St, plus a suspect who also sustained a gunshot wound.
"Three victims are in critical condition, the other victims & the suspect are believed to have non-life-threatening injuries."
The shooting happened near the Ball Arena, where the match was played.
Police have said a suspect has been arrested, who was also suffering gunshot wounds.
"This is a complex, ongoing investigation in its early stages," a police spokesperson added.
"Preliminary info indicates multiple shots were fired during an altercation involving several individuals. Updates will be provided as they become available."
Pictures from the crime scene show smashed glass and litter strewn across the road. A large cordon has been set up and investigators are on the scene.
One of the people injured in the shooting took themselves to hospital adding to the earlier confusion over the number of people injured.
Other incidents reported across Denver include a hit-and-run which left a pedestrian in serious condition.
Police said: "Officers are investigating a hit-and-run crash at 4th Avenue and Broadway involving a motorist and a pedestrian. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Traffic delays possible in the area."
Immediately after the NBA, police urged revellers to "celebrate safely".
Riot police armed with shields and batons were seen being deployed to the areas around the arena in an effort to clear the crowds.
Celebrating fans were seen climbing the traffic lights to cheers from those below.
A reporter at the scene for the Denver Post said: "Both of the young men dropped from their spots atop the traffic light into the crowd, which appears to have caught them."
Roads were closed across the downtown area with police on the scene to manage the crowds and the "heavy vehicular traffic" leaving the area.
