A vehicle caused serious damage after it collided with nine cars on a residential street. On Tuesday, February 28, a number of vehicles on Lord Haddon Road, Ilkeston, were damaged after a car allegedly spun into them.
Residents on the road say around nine cars were damaged in the incident. Retired, Geoff Raby, 72, told Nottinghamshire Live what happened. "The police arrived within five or ten minutes," he said. "My neighbours said that there was a small incident like this last year too."
Geoff continued: "Since I've been living here, it seems to be that cars do speed along here quite a lot, and it's on the direct bus route into Nottingham. Cars give way to buses, but everyone says there needs to be some sort of traffic solution."
A couple on the street, who did not wish to be named, were in when the incident happened and caught it on their CCTV system. The woman said: ""This is not the first time, this is the third one in the last two years. It took about nine cars out, it's just horrendous. I've not slept since it happened.
"It always happens on here, it's frightening, we need speed cameras." Her husband added: "We just saw a flash and heard a bang like an explosion, it lit our front room up. People are still walking dogs at that time and there are pedestrians about. It's a miracle someone wasn't killed."
He explained that because people "have a straight run down the road" there is an issue with cars speeding. The couple say they would like to see the county council install speed bumps on the road or other speed reducing measures.
Careworker, Annabel Lloyd, 51, said: "I didn't hear it, but of course it's worrying. It's quite difficult to park on here, and you get cars speeding up and down quite a lot.
"When we first moved in there was one that went that way and went straight across and took out some cars on the next road, about five or six. It happens a lot in the area."
When asked if she thought speed bumps or cameras could be helpful, Annabel replied: "Yeah I think that would be good."
Officers were called to reports of a collision between a number of vehicles on Tuesday, February 28, in Lord Haddon Road, Ilkeston.
Derbyshire Police said: "Just before 10pm a VW Golf collided with a parked car before colliding with a Toyota Yaris driving in the opposite direction. The Golf then collided with a further seven vehicles that were parked on the street.
"There were only minor physical injuries as a result of the collision, which did not require medical treatment at the scene. Both drivers stopped at the scene of the collision, and inquiries are ongoing into the circumstances of the incident. There have been no arrests in relation to the collision".
