West Ham United currently have eight players out on loan away from the club for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.
With the January transfer window shutting last Tuesday, barring any injuries, the Hammers players out on loan for the rest of the campaign remain all but settled until the season comes to a close. Of the eight, four are in the lower leagues of English football, with the other four are out at clubs in Scotland, Turkey, Norway and Italy.
Here as a look at how all eight are currently faring at their respective loan clubs.
Nikola Vlasic (Torino)
Playmaker Nikola Vlasic had a strong first half of the season in Serie A with Torino, scoring three goals in his first five league matches and helping his native Croatia finish third in the 2022 World Cup.
However, since coming back from his loan spell, Vlasic has struggled to find the same form, recently being dropped out of the starting line-up for Sunday’s 1-0 win over Udinese, the first time since his Serie A debut where he has not started a league game.
Vlasic did however make an assist in Torino’s 2-1 Coppa Italia quarter-final defeat to Fiorentina eight days ago.
Arthur Masuaku (Besiktas)
Left-back Arthur Masuaku has been a regular for Besiktas this season and has played in 20 of their 21 Super Lig matches this season, only missing the trip to Galatasaray before the World Cup break due to an ankle injury.
The French-born Democratic Republic of Congo international has played in all eight of his loan club’s league matches season their season restarted on Christmas Day.
A booking however in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Sivasspor has meant he will be banned for Besiktas’ next league match. That is due to take place on Sunday, February 19, with matches in Turkey currently postponed until at least February 17 following a major earthquake on Monday that has led to over 11,000 deaths,
Conor Coventry (Rotherham United)
Midfielder Conor Coventry left the Hammers towards the end of the January window to join Championship side Rotherham United on loan for the rest of the season, having struggled for minutes in the first-team in the first half of the campaign.
Coventry made his debut on Saturday and played the duration of the Millers’ goalless draw at home to promotion-chasing Sheffield United.
Wearing the No.4 shirt at the AESSEAL New York Stadium, the Republic of Ireland’s most-capped player at under-21s level ever, made three tackles against the Blades, with Rotherham attempting to steer clear of the relegation zone.
Nathan Trott (Vejle)
Danish goalkeeper Nathan Trott has not played a game since before the World Cup break, with the second tier of Danish football due to return until Saturday, February 18.
Trott played six of Vejle’s last eight league matches prior to the season being paused, missing the other two only through a suspension.
Vejle currently top the league after 17 games by four clear points and play host to ninth-placed Fremad Amager in nine days time.
Mipo Odubeko (Port Vale)
Young Irish forward Mipo Odubeko is spending the season in League One with Port Vale, who were promoted last season.
Odubeko has played 26 times in all competitions this season and scored four goals, but has made just five starts in League One.
On New Year’s Day, Odubeko came off the bench to score in a 3-1 win over Forest Green Rovers to earn a start against Peterborough United in their next league match. He has not started since then, featuring as a substitute in three of their last four league games.
Brian Kinnear (Falkirk)
One of the new loans out of West Ham in January saw goalkeeper Brian Kinnear return to his native Scotland to join Falkirk.
Kinnear has been in Falkirk’s squad for all of the third-tier side’s matches since his arrival, but has remained an unused substitute in trips to FC Edinburgh, Kelty Hearts and Alloa Athletic (League One and FA Cup).
The 22-year-old has played twice for the club’s under-21s this season during defeats to Milton Keynes Dons and Crystal Palace’s under-21s at the start of October.
Thierry Nevers (Bradford City)
Forward Thierry Nevers spent the first half of the season on loan at League Two side Newport County, but saw his spell in south Wales cut short before joining Bradford City days later.
Managed by former Manchester City boss Mark Hughes, Nevers has been in the Bantams’ four matchday squads since his arrival, making three appearances off the bench.
In his latest outing, he was given 15 minutes, having played for one minute and nine minutes in his two games prior, a sign that his game time is starting to slowly improve.
Jacob Knightbridge (Harrow Borough)
Teenage goalkeeper Jacob Knightbridge is currently out on loan with non-league side Harrow Borough, who play in the Southern League Premier Division South, the seventh tier of English football.
On Tuesday night, Knightsbridge started and kept a clean sheet during the goalless draw away at Winchester City.
However, Knightsbridge has recently been back at West Ham and involved with the under-21s, starting and playing the duration of their 2-1 Premier League International Cup defeat to Monaco on Friday night.
