Nikola Katic completes Zurich transfer as Rangers defender reaches Ibrox exit

Nikola Katic set for permanent Rangers exit as defender in talks with European club

NIKOLA KATIC has departed Rangers.

The defender has completed a move to FC Zurich.

The Croatian defender slipped out of Ibrox first-team plans under Steven Gerrard when injuries struck and as a result, he spent last season on loan at Hajduk Split.

The Swiss champions Zurich have made their move to offer him a way out of Glasgow.

The 25-year-old passed a medical before signing on the dotted line.

Katic has made a total of 59 appearances for Rangers since signing in a £2 million deal from Slaven Belupo in 2018 on a four year contract, which was extended after just one year under previous boss Steven Gerrard.

But with Rangers well covered in central defence now with Connor Goldson, James Sands, John Souttar, Leon King, Ben Davies and Filip Helander to return from injury, he has left the club.
