Nikola Katic 'set' for loan deal in UK following Rangers links

Former Rangers defender Nikola Katic is set to return to the UK on loan.

According to TeamTalk's Fraser Fletcher, the defender will join Plymouth Argyle on loan until the end of the season.

He wrote on X: "Plymouth Argyle set to sign former Rangers defender Niko Katic on loan until the end of the season.

"Straight loan, Bosnian set to travel to complete the deal."

The 28-year-old - who played for Rangers between 2018 and 2022 - currently plays for FC Zurich in Switerland.

New manager Miron Muslic is looking to bolster his squad ahead of Monday's transfer deadline.

Argyle are rooted to the foot of the Championship table. Wayne Rooney's former side sit on just 22 points after 29 games.

The south-coast team are seven points from safety, so, Muslic is desperately trying to improve his squad to keep them up.

Katic has been linked with a return to Rangers to help Philippe Clement with defensive cover due to a pile-up of injuries.

It was reported on Tuesday that Rangers had made an offer to Zurich for Katic.

However, it seems that the powerful centre-back is headed for England's second tier.
