Nikki Haley has accepted an invitation to speak at the Republican National Convention this week, showcasing a gesture of party unity amidst the recent turmoil following the assassination attempt against former President Trump.
Haley, who previously served in Trump's administration and later ran against him in the 2024 primary, emerged as his final rival in the race. The specific day of her speech at the convention remains undisclosed.
Despite the violent incident targeting Trump on Saturday, his campaign has affirmed that the convention will proceed as scheduled. The event is set to take place from July 15 to the 18th in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Security measures have been visibly heightened around the convention venue, with reports of multiple layers of security and various perimeters to navigate for entry. Streets surrounding the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee have been subject to extensive closures, featuring K-rail barriers and metal barricades to bolster security.
Law enforcement presence is notably increased, with police officers patrolling the area extensively. Routine helicopter flyovers have also been observed as part of the security protocol in place for the convention.
