Nikki Haley Earns Endorsements, Reacts to DeSantis Dropping Out

Former Governor Nikki Haley campaigns in New Hampshire, despite trailing in polls.

Former Governor Nikki Haley continues her campaign in New Hampshire, with six campaign stops planned for today. She received a boost when New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu endorsed her and is actively helping her win over voters. Additionally, Haley earned endorsements from the two major local newspapers in the state.

Despite trailing behind the former president in the polls, Haley remains optimistic, dismissing the double-digit deficit and citing Governor Sununu's previous come-from-behind victory when he faced similar odds. She emphasized that they are framing the race as a two-person competition now.

During her campaign stops, Haley has been addressing criticism that she is not conservative enough. She stressed that she aims to garner support from conservative Republicans, moderate Republicans, independents, and even conservative Democrats. Haley believes that the country cannot be brought together by labeling individuals as good or bad, right or wrong. Instead, she emphasizes the need to unite and move forward.

Independents, who comprise the largest voting bloc in New Hampshire, will have a significant role to play in the Republican primary taking place on Tuesday. The primary is expected to see record turnout, and both the Boston Globe and the New Hampshire Union-Leader newspapers have endorsed Haley. The Boston Globe called upon independent voters to cast their ballot in the Republican primary, arguing that it is a crucial opportunity to prevent a second Donald Trump presidency.

Interestingly, Haley has been openly criticizing Trump, highlighting concerns about his age, chaotic leadership style, and divisive approach. She believes that Trump's time in office has exacerbated the divisions within the country and that it's time for America to be repaired.

While Haley remains focused on the New Hampshire primary, the Biden campaign is also facing challenges. Although he is not on the ballot in New Hampshire, there is a write-in campaign aiming to garner support for the sitting president. However, there are concerns that some independent voters, who may have leaned towards the Democratic primary, may now be swayed to vote against former President Trump in the two-person race.

The Haley campaign intends to hold a rally in Charleston, South Carolina, on Wednesday, highlighting their determination to continue their efforts, regardless of the outcome in New Hampshire. They have invested $4 million in ads in South Carolina, signaling their commitment to moving forward.

With the Republican primary set to take place amidst high voter turnout expectations, the race in New Hampshire holds crucial significance, and the dynamics of the independent vote will pose a vital factor in determining the outcome.
