The Golden Globes 2025 are well underway and host Nikki Glaser has certainly not held back when it comes to roasting the über-famous guests.
Hosting a major awards show is no easy task, and we’ve seen many mess it up in the past, but as an expert celebrity roaster, Glaser came into the ceremony with a sense of confidence.
“I’m not out for blood. I want everyone to have a good night,” she told People Magazine. “I am really in service of the people that are being honoured there.”
Nobody was safe from a roasting, including Australia’s sweetheart Nicole Kidman, who is nominated for her 20th Golden Globe.
“Nicole Kidman is here for Babygirl,” Glaser said.
“That movie was so good, I give it two fingers up. This is your 20th Golden Globe nomination. I mean, incredible. Thank you so much for all of your hard work. And thank you to Keith Urban for playing guitar around the house so much that she wants to leave and make 18 movies a year.”
Cover your ears, thespians, because she also didn’t hold back when it came to arguably the biggest film of the year — Wicked.
“I did not know much about Wicked going into this year because I had friends in high school. Everyone loved Wicked. I loved Wicked. My boyfriend loved Wicked. My boyfriend’s boyfriend really loved Wicked,” Glaser said.
“In Wicked, some people complained that the movie was ruined by people singing. And then in Joker 2, some people complained that the movie was ruined by the images on the screen and the sounds that accompanied them. I’m sorry, Joker 2. Where’s their table? Oh, they’re not here.”
Wicked also found itself caught in the crossfire of a sledge directed at Ben Affleck.
“Wicked, Queer, Nightbitch — these are not just words Ben Affleck yells after he orgasms. These are some of the incredible movies nominated tonight,” she said.
Timothée Chalamet, who attended the awards alongside girlfriend Kylie Jenner, was complimented on his uncanny resemblance to Bob Dylan…
“Timothée Chalamet, you have the most gorgeous eyelashes — on your upper lip. That is such a good look. You were so good and in A Complete Unknown as Bob Dylan. I read that your singing voice was so accurate that that even Bob Dylan admitted that it was absolutely horrible.”
Glen Powell, on the otherhand, received nothing but praise for his domination of the screens — and our thoughts — this year.
“Glen Powell, you were in everything. Twisters, Hit Man, my head when I’m having sex with my boyfriend. Thank you so much for the assist. I’ll see you tonight,” she quipped.
Glaser also made a controversial joke about Sean “Diddy” Combs while talking about Challengers with Zendaya.
“And Challengers? Girl, oh my God, it was so good, I mean, that movie was more sexually charged than Diddy’s credit card,” she said.
After an awkward reaction from the crowd, she doubled down.
“Oh no, I’m sorry, I’m upset too, the after-party’s not going to be as good this year, but we have to move on!” she added.
“I know, Stanley Tucci ‘Freak Off’ just doesn’t have the same ring to it, but no baby oil this year, just lots of olive oil.”
Diddy is currently facing several charges including sex trafficking and racketeering, while also facing allegations of rape, sexual assault and abuse. He has pleaded not guilty in court.
Social media users were quick to respond online, calling the jokes “tired”, “insensitive” and “corny”.
I mean, there are three certainties in life: death, taxes, and awards show hosts missing the mark on at least one of their jokes. Right?
