Nike statement on Mason Greenwood after claims Man United player attacked girlfriend

Nike have said they are "deeply concerned" by the allegations against Mason Greenwood after his girlfriend Harriet Robson accused the Manchester United forward of abuse.

Robson put several posts of injuries that she has suffered on social media, which she claims were inflicted by Greenwood.

Robson uploaded pictures, videos and an audio recording with the caption: “To everyone who wants to know what Mason Greenwood actually does to me.”

One video she posted showed her with blood pouring from her lip, while other images displayed bruises on various areas of her body.

United and Greater Manchester Police have both stated their awareness of the posts, which are no longer visible after Robson deleted them from her account.

Nike sponsor Greenwood and issued a statement, as reported by The Athletic, which read: “We are deeply concerned by the disturbing allegations and will continue to closely monitor the situation.”

Greater Manchester Police issued a statement to Mirror Football which did not confirm any names, but said they were looking into the matter.

The statement read: "Greater Manchester Police is aware of images and videos circulating on social media. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."

United also made the following statement in light of the posts: “We are aware of images and allegations circulating on social media. We will not make any further comment until the facts have been established.

"Manchester United does not condone violence of any kind.”

Greenwood has also been suspended from the club.

Greenwood and Robson had been dating since school where they first met at Mersey School in Greater Manchester.

They had split up in 2020 prior to Greenwood’s public saga with the England national team, which saw him sent home by manager Gareth Southgate.

The United forward and Manchester City's Phil Foden both found themselves under the spotlight after the duo sneaked two Icelandic models into the team hotel despite strict Covid restrictions being in place.

He has not played for the Three Lions since.

The United player also told the England boss not to consider him for selection back in November so he could focus on his club football.

"We had a discussion before the camp in September and we came to an agreement," Southgate said.

"John McDermott [the FA’s technical director] and myself went to United and had a good chat with Mason and his family and we agreed we would park this until next year, basically. We would leave the autumn games."
