Nik Naks bring back 'best crisps ever' - 14 years after the popular flavour was axed

For 14 long years, we have been denied one of the greatest flavours of crisps - but the suffering is finally over. Nik Naks currently only sell two individual variations of their knobbly stick snacks, the orange packeted Nice 'n' Spicy and purple bagged Rib 'n' Saucy.

But now, as reported by Edinburgh Live, they have decided to bring back a nostalgia-filled flavour that was discontinued over a decade ago - the iconic Scampi 'n' Lemon. The fishy delights were a staple for crisp fans, but were phased out in 2008 to make room for the new Pickle 'n' Onion flavour, which itself has since been axed.

Scampi 'n' Lemon have been found in multipack bags of Nik Naks over the years, but now they can be bought separately in all their lime green glory.

The unique and smelly flavour has caused a stir in the past - with Nik Naks encouraging customers to put their empty crisp packets in the bin by ironically saying "Stifle The Stink".

The exciting news was announced on popular food Facebook page Snack News and Reviews - with the delicious treats set to hit some shelves as early as this week.

Their post read: "Nik Naks Scampi & Lemon are coming back THIS WEEK in convenience stores! Keep your peeled!"

The comments section was flooded with fans who have been left giddy at the announcement and can't wait to get their hands on the tasty bags.

"Yes! These were the best one," wrote one crisp lover, while another added: ""Best crisps ever!"

"This is my favourite flavour niknaks", raved a third fan, then a fourth commented: "Used to love these back in the day. Bloody gorgeous!!"

Someone also uploaded a stack of the Scampi 'n' Lemon flavoured crisps - claiming 30 boxes containing 20 bags each were on their way to East Devon.

It's not currently known exactly where they will be stocked but crisp fans are being urged to check smaller convenience stores.

With the lime green packs coming back, there have been calls for more discontinued flavours to be re-released.

Scampi 'n' Lemon actually replaced Cream 'n' Cheesy in multipacks from 2006, which was then in turn replaced by Pickle 'n' Onion.

On Valentine's Day 1994, a limited edition Naughty 'n' Saucy flavour containing an "aphrodisiac" ingredient (0.01% Guarana Seed extract) was released.

The romantic experiment was repeated in 2005 when they launched a new limited edition Naughty 'n' Saucy flavour.

It was claimed this was the first savoury snack to contain the Chinese herb Ginseng, said to help boost the libido, and was cheekily palced on the top shelf as a joke.
