The annual Night of the 10,000m PBs is taking place in London on Saturday.

Athletes from countries including Chile, Mexico, Burundi, Rwanda, Ethiopia, and the United States, among others, are set to take part with UK runners.

Here are the key details of the event.

What is Night of the 10,000m PBs?

Night of the 10,000m PBs was first held in 2013 and has since grown in popularity and reputation.

Organised by the renowned north London running group Highgate Harriers, it was established with the aim of improving British racing standards.

The main focus of the event is to promote and celebrate the 10,000-metre distance race, providing an opportunity for athletes to achieve personal best times and spectators to witness thrilling races. The event typically includes multiple races throughout the afternoon and evening, including elite races featuring top national and international athletes, as well as races for club runners and up-and-coming talents.

Night of the 10,000m PBs is known for its unique and vibrant atmosphere, with spectators lining the track, music playing, and enthusiastic crowd support. The event also incorporates various entertainment elements, including live commentary, on-track interviews, and interactive fan activities.

It has become a truly international event in recent years. The website states that it incorporated the British Championships in 2014, Rio Olympic Team GB trials in 2016 and IAAF World Championship GB trials in 2017. In 2018, it integrated the European 10,000m Cup with more than 28 competing nations.

The first prize is £6,000. Anyone who betters the 27:16 record will also pocket a £5,000 bonus.
