Night Court season 2 to feature beloved original characters' return

Night Court season 2

NBC's Night Court season 2 continues to delight fans with the return of beloved original characters. The revival of the iconic 1980s sitcom concluded its first season with the much-anticipated reprisal of Rosalind 'Roz' Russell, portrayed by the talented Marsha Warfield. Her return set the stage for intriguing storylines in the upcoming season, including a compelling dynamic with Dan Fielding, played by John Larroquette. The unlikely duo finds common ground in their shared bewilderment over Judge Abby Stone, portrayed by Melissa Rauch.

Showrunner Dan Rubin recently revealed more exciting news at the Television Critics Association's Winter 2024 press tour. In Night Court season 2, fans can look forward to the return of Brent Spiner and Annie O'Donnell, who will reprise their roles as Bob and June Wheeler. The Wheeler couple, infamous for their perpetual misfortune, appeared in the original series for six episodes. This time, they bring their misadventures to the screen with a grown-up daughter portrayed by the talented Kate Micucci, known for her role in The Big Bang Theory.

For TBBT fans, the reunion of Melissa Rauch and Kunal Nayyar, who played Raj in the hit comedy, was a highlight of Night Court's second season. Nayyar made a guest appearance as Martini Toddwallis, a renowned fashion designer struggling with designer's block and a lack of inspiration. His character's fondness for Abby echoes their history on TBBT, adding an interesting dynamic to the show.

Night Court season 2 also features several other noteworthy guest actors. Jessica St. Clair, a close real-life friend of Melissa Rauch, joined the cast, bringing her undeniable talent to the screen. Wendie Mallick, known for her roles in Hot in Cleveland and Just Shoot Me!, takes on the recurring character Julianne, a vengeful career criminal determined to ruin Dan's life. And sitcom veteran Faith Ford, beloved for her portrayal of Corky on Murphy Brown, graces the show as Abby's mom, adding another layer of depth to the narrative.

Brent Spiner, famous for his role as Data in Star Trek, and Annie O'Donnell, also a Star Trek alum, are the latest familiar faces to join the Night Court revival. Their characters, Bob and June Wheeler, always seemed to fall victim to misfortune in the original series. It will be interesting to see if their luck has changed over the years.

Night Court season 2 airs on Tuesdays at 8 PM ET on NBC and is available for streaming on Peacock. Though the revival may not have received the same critical acclaim as its predecessor, the return of John Larroquette as Dan Fielding has stirred excitement among fans. With each familiar face that graces the screen, Night Court continues to captivate audiences with its nostalgic charm and new twists on old favorites.
