Nigel Pearson confirmed Tommy Conway and Matty James are likely to be included in the matchday squad to take on Reading on Saturday while claiming Kal Naismith is "making good progress."
Ahead of the international break, the City manager was hopeful the two-week period would provide sufficient time for the trio to recover from their respective injuries to face the Royals.
Conway hasn't featured since the New Year's Day draw with Coventry following a hamstring injury. Naismith aggravated a calf problem during a 2-1 victory over Preston at the beginning of February, missing the last 10 matches, while James sat out the last three Championship matches with an ankle problem.
All three were involved in training on Wednesday but Pearson seemed coy on stating their availability for the weekend, perhaps with caution of revealing his team selection. Speaking to Robins TV, he said: "Tommy has been in a really good place now for two or three weeks.
"Matty James is doing very well so I think they'll both be available. Kal, is making good progress too. They've all trained today and we'll make decisions based on what's not just best for this weekend but for the rest of the season really.
"It's really important when players make that transition from being out for quite a while that it's just not throwing them back in the deep end."
One player who won't recover in time is Tomas Kalas, who picked up a knee injury in the defeat against Cardiff at the beginning of March. It was just his fourth consecutive appearance, having made his first start in just over a year in the draw at Sunderland.
Pearson added on Kalas' recovery: "Tomas Kalas is back out on grass too which is good for us so we have players making progress."
City are also waiting on two players to return from international duty, including Alex Scott who limped off injured in the 83rd minute of England Under-20's draw with France on Wednesday. The Robins had five senior players abroad including Anis Mehmeti, Andi Weimann, Mark Sykes, Scott and Nahki Wells.
Pearson added: "Anis has come back today so we'll see him, the others we'll have to see either later today or tomorrow. That's one of the problems with international weeks, when you have to make preparations for the weekend sometimes, depending on where the internationals are played, you don't get them back until Friday.
"Hopefully they come back fit but I think it gives us a chance now to look at this last run of games and try and finish this season as strong as we can. That's the objective because it's still a part of how we move the squad forward, we'd like to finish with a positive run and put the disappointment of the last couple of games behind us.
"With a bit of luck, we'll get one or two players back for these games."
Rob Atkinson and Ayman Benarous remain long-term absentees as they recover from ACL injuries while Joe Williams is out for the rest of the season with a hamstring injury.
