NIFRS warning after 10 people treated at six house fires in one weekend

The fire service has issued a warning following a "busy weekend" attending fires at people's homes.

Over the course of the weekend the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Services attended a number of incidents across Northern Ireland with six of these leaving 10 people requiring treatment for smoke inhalation.

The fires were caused in a number of different ways which included; unattended pots and pans, portable electric heaters and a tumble dryer.

Many of the homes where the fires took place had working smoke alarms installed which helped to give an early warning to the incidents.

The NIFRS are asking people to ensure that their homes are fire safe and have working smoke alarms.

It has also offered advice to households so they are able to check whether or not their homes are safewhich they can do via this link.
