Harry Nielsen has saved South Australia from embarrassment against Queensland in the Sheffield Shield, taking them to lunch on day two at 7-193.
After Xavier Bartlett took three wickets to leave the Redbacks 5-25 early on a rain-affected opening day at Adelaide Oval, Nielsen has led the comeback with an unbeaten 87.
It came as Queensland managed just one wicket in the extended opening session of day two, when Gurinder Sandhu (2-40) had Ben Manenti edging early on 33.
But from there, Neilsen has helped South Australia stabilise.
The wicketkeeper-batsman hit four boundaries on Monday morning, looking at his best when Queensland's quicks went short,
His effort has come as part of an unbeaten 86-run eighth-wicket stand with Nathan McAndrew, who is 27no.
Both sides are without their Australian Test and one-day players, with the ODI series against England ongoing and red-ball stars preparing for Tests against the West Indies.
