Nicolas Raskin sends Rangers transfer hunters into overdrive as Standard Liege fan 'farewell' decoded

Rangers fans are desperate to see Nicolas Raskin unveiled at Ibrox – and the midfielder has dropped a major clue the wait will be over pronto.

The Standard Liege midfielder is in Scotland after landing at Edinburgh airport on a flight from Brussels on Monday afternoon where he was met by Ibrox officials before being taken to the Rangers Training Centre to iron out the final details of a move. It is reported in Belgium a third bid from Rangers worth around £1.75million fee sealed the move with the Jupiler Pro League side getting a 20 per cent sell-on clause in Raskin's contract.

The 21-year-old looks set to become Michael Beale's second signing as Rangers boss, and the Belgium U21 international has fuelled speculation over a deadline day arrival as he appeared to say goodbye to his former side. Raskin came through the youth academy ranks in Liege but has been frozen out by boss Ronny Deila since before the World Cup after failing to agree a new contract.

Despite a sour end to his time at the club, fans have sent Raskin well-wishes before his switch to the Scottish Premiership. One fan tweeted: "Thank you for everything, don't forget us!"

Ahead of the imminent move, Raskin liked the tweet. Many fans online have taken the interaction as a farewell to his former side as the formalities of a deal are completed. As the player jetting into the Scottish capital, Beale attempted to play his cards close to his chest over a move. Speaking ahead of facing Hearts on Wednesday, the Ibrox boss said: "I can't confirm anything right now. We're closer but it's not guaranteed right this second."
