Rangers have not yet rekindled their interest in Nicolas Raskin, according to the players’ representatives
The Standard Liege midfielder was on the Ibrox club’s radar in the summer, which has been confirmed by his agency company, TEAM RASKIN, reports the Daily Express. But as things stand, they have had no renewed contact over a potential January deal and haven’t been informed of any incoming offers for the 21-year-old ahead of the transfer window opening
Raskin is a key member of former Celtic boss Ronny Deila ’s squad. But his Liege deal is up at the end of the season and while the Belgian pro League outfit are keen for him to extend his stay, they won’t wait forever and want talks over a new contract to take place before they jet off to Spain for a training camp at the end of this month while the FIFA World Cup takes place in Qatar.
Despite no approaches from Rangers so far, a move for Raskin could still materialise in early 2023. However, the gers will face competition from the likes of Spezia, who are also understood to be monitoring the situation.
"There was interest in the summer from Rangers,” said a spokesperson for Raskin’s representatives. “We knew about that but nothing happened. As far as we are aware it ended last summer and there has not been any interest at this point. We have not been told of anything coming from Rangers in January.
“Of course, it is well known that Nicolas is out of contract next summer and there are many clubs who are alert to that fact. We have not begun any talks with Standard on a new contract."
