Nicolas Raskin Rangers transfer details emerge with deal 'in principle' reached over Ibrox switch

Nicolas Raskin's transfer saga to Rangers seems to be closing in on an end according to reports in his homeland.

The 21-year-old midfielder has long been a target of the Ibrox side dating back to last summer when Gio Van Bronckhorst was looking to land the Belgian but a move never materialised. Michael Beale has picked up that interest and seemingly accelerated it, with reports that the Light Blues faced two bids knocked back for the want-away Standard Liege man.

It appears the tussle over potential fees is edging closer to an end as, according to DH les Sports, talks have progressed with both parties and an agreement with a fee of £1.75 million muted, plus a 20% sell-on clause has been agreed 'in principle'.

Beale did not hide his interest in the youngster but previously stated no official deals had been struck. He claimed: "“Another good player [Raskin] one that I remember from the time we played Standard Liege. He missed the first game the night Kemar Roofe scored that amazing goal but he played the second leg.

"He’s a player I’m aware of, a very good player who is out of contract in the summer. One that has attracted a lot of attention. There’s an interest from us but I’m sure there is from a number of clubs."

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano also issued an update claiming the deal could be around three-years plus for the midfielder. He said on Twitter: "Rangers have reached full agreement to sign Nicolas Raskin, here we go! Deal in place with Standard Liege on permanent move.

"Paperworks between clubs today, while personal terms are already agreed. Been told contract will be valid until 2027."
