Nicolas Raskin pinpoints Rangers area for improvement after Champions League win

Nicolas Raskin admits Rangers must be more clinical in the final third if they are to see off Servette and keep their Champions League dreams alive this term.

Michael Beale’s side will take a slender lead into the second leg of their third qualifying round clash following a tight encounter at Ibrox on Wednesday evening.

A James Tavernier penalty and strike from Cyriel Dessers had Rangers in control against the Swiss but Chris Bedia’s effort from the spot just before the break changed the tie.

Rangers remain a work in progress at present after Beale’s extensive rebuild of the squad and midfielder Raskin knows the goals will have to come sooner rather than later.

“I think we created a lot of chances,” Raskin told RangersTV. “We should have more goals and that is something we need to work on again and again, to be more efficient.

“But I think we can be happy with our performance. We created good things and had a good connection. We just had to score more goals and it would be perfect.

“We owed the fans something after the performance we did against Kilmarnock. We knew we had to go full and the gaffer said we had to go full.

“We tried to do it. I think we did good. If we were scoring our chances, it would be very good.

“The new signings, especially the forwards, we need to adapt and create good connections.

"I think we can start to see good things on the pitch, good one-twos and good runs and it is important to continue that.

“Of course it will give us confidence but I think for the next game we need to reset. We need to win over there, for sure, we can’t just look to score.

“We need to win over there and make the job fully. We need to score more goals and try to do the same performance.”
