Nicolas Raskin can be a top midfielder for Rangers but needs a key piece of help from Michael Beale according to a Belgian coach.
Raskin has arrived in Glasgow after sealing a deadline day switch to the Ibrox side in a deal worth a reported £1.5m from Standard Liege - a club the 21-year-old wanted out of. Things turned toxic for the Belgian in ex-Celtic boss Ronny Deila's set-up in Liege after he was initially a target for former Rangers boss Gio Van Bronckhorst last summer.
But Beale sealed the deal for the youngster who will provide youth to an ageing Ibrox midfield, yet the boss is being warned Raskin can only shine with one key component in his team. It is the view of former Belgian assistant coach Vital Borkelmans who says the kid needs another midfielder to act as a 'bodyguard' while he makes things happen in an attacking sense.

He told the Scottish Sun: “Raskin is a talent who has the ability to play through the lines, to get the better of teams pressing, to make things happen.
“I’ve also spoken to a number of people about him and they tell me he is a good boy, mentally strong and that he has a fighting spirit. Marc Wilmots also likes him as a player and that is a big compliment.
“But if I had a concern, it would be trying to make his mark in Scotland without someone I would call a proper No 6. Someone to look after him, make sure he has the space to play his best. A team-mate more suited to dealing with the physical side in Scotland.
“Do Rangers have this kind of player? I hope so."
