Nicolas Pepe can win the admiration from Arsenal fans again by taking up the agent role to steal Franck Kessie from the hands of Spurs.
According to the Telegraph, Tottenham are looking into the possibility of signing the central midfielder this January, as his contract expires at the end of the season and it is looking unlikely that he will extend his current deal.
Kessie is currently away at the African Cup of Nations with Ivory Coast alongside Pepe, and the two teamed up excellently to defeat Algeria, the current holders of the competition, as they combined for an excellent goal in the first half.
Arsenal are in desperate need of a central midfielder, and Kessie would certainly be an answer to the lack of quality in that position for Mikel Arteta.
Pepe and Kessie both linked up for a goal on the same evening where Arsenal were defeated by Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-final due to the lack of presence in the center of midfield.
The Mirror have claimed that Arsenal , along with Manchester United, are also interested in securing Kessie’s services given he could be available for a cut-price in the January transfer window.
Improving the midfield isn’t the only reason why Edu should do what it takes to bring in the Ivorian international, but his acquisition will also propel the Gunners into the Champions League places.
Arsenal and Spurs are both fighting for the top four positions with them only being one point away from each other, but if Spurs were able to sign Kessie, then they would gain the advantage as their midfield would see a massive improvement.
Arteta should follow Newcastle’s transfer business in January after their decision to Sign Chris Wood from Burnley, because not only did they improve their own squad, but they also weakened a direct rival, which will reduce the chances of the Magpies facing relegation.
Arsenal are in desperate need of a central-midfielder to create a strong partnership with Thomas Partey, who has so far struggled to adapt with the pace of the Premier League, as Granit Xhaka and Albert Sambi Lokonga have been largely unreliable this season.
Kessie has the quality, alongside the necessary experience, and At just 24-years-old, he has played 182 games in Serie A and scored 38 goals which is very impressive for a midfielder.
Arsenal could be weakening their biggest rivals, and strengthening their own squad with the help of Nicolas Pepe.
