Nicola Sturgeon has said she is "profoundly concerned" for the Queen after it was announced she was under medical supervision.
Buckingham Palace issued a statement at 12.32pm on Thursday saying royal doctors were concerned for health.
It said The Queen, 96, was comfortable and her royal physicians recommended she remain under medical supervision.
The Prince of Wales, the Duke of Cambridge and the Duchess of Cornwall cleared their diaries and immediately headed to the Queen’s home at Balmoral.
The statement was made while Sturgeon was speaking to MSPs at the weekly session of FMQs at Holyrood.
In a tweet sent afterwards, the First Minister said: "All of us are feeling profoundly concerned at reports of Her Majesty’s health. My thoughts and wishes are with the Queen and all of the Royal Family at this time."
Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar said: "Deeply worrying news about Her Majesty the Queen. Thinking of her and her family, and sending best wishes on behalf of the Scottish Labour Party."
Holyrood’s Presiding Officer has said the thoughts of all in the Scottish Parliament are with the Queen after Buckingham Palace said she was under medical supervision at Balmoral.
Speaking after First Minister’s Questions, Alison Johnstone made a brief statement to MSPs.
“I am aware that a statement has been made at Westminster on the health of Her Majesty the Queen,” she said.
“I will, of course, monitor developments and keep members updated over the course of the day.
“But my, I’m sure the thoughts of all in Parliament are with Her Majesty at this time.”
