Nicola Peltz has apparently declined the offer to spend Christmas with the Beckhams for the second year in a row despite an apparent reconciliation with mother-in-law, Victoria Beckham in Paris last week. Rumours of a long standing heated feud between the two were seemingly crushed when the 27-year-old was spotted in attendance of Posh Spice's show at Fashion week in France, the Mirror reports.
Peltz was accompanied by her husband and Victoria's eldest child, Brooklyn to support his mother at her debut fashion show in Paris as their public appearance was believed to be a public peace settling between the two women following months of rumoured quarrelling. The suspected row is thought to have been sparked by Nicola choosing to wear a Valentino wedding gown over a dress from Victoria's fashion label for her marriage ceremony to Brooklyn Beckham earlier this year at her billionaire parent's property in Florida.
However, a source has came forward and claimed the truce was only temporary and a case of “playing nice” while the cameras were on them. An insider told Heat magazine that the Paris truce helped in part but has now made the situation more complicated as the US actress now feels she’s “done her part” and so the Beckhams “owe her one”.
“Brooklyn explained that his parents were upset – that’s why she turned up to the show. But no one believes the reconciliation will last long – especially now Nicola has refused to spend Christmas with the Beckhams for the second year in a row," the insider added.
They went on to claim that Brooklyn had hoped the Paris Fashion Week appearance was going to be a turning point, but now realises its not that simple as Nicola has “no intention” of spending Christmas with her in-laws.
It has been reported that doting dad David pulled Brooklyn aside to reassure him his family loves him and is there for him no matter what while the famous clan were in Paris. And, the source said, took the opportunity to invite the newlyweds to the festivities at their Cotswolds home.
“Since you live with the Peltzes, it would be lovely if you came to us,” David is reported to have said to his eldest son. But David and Victoria were “sad to hear” the response to their invitation which was that its apparently tradition for the first Christmas to be spent with the bride’s family, the insider told the magazine.
The Beckhams go all out for Christmas, decorating their gorgeous home and making it a fun-filled affair for their children Brooklyn, 23, Romeo, 20, Cruz, 17 and Harper, 11. Brooklyn missed out on the matching PJs and stockings hung above their fireplace last year when he spent the day with Nicola’s relations.
But the famous mum and dad are said to not be giving up easily as they have now gone back to Brooklyn and Nicola with an invite to a “pre-Christmas weekend in the Cotswolds, or a New Year’s holiday in Miami”.
“They are not making it easy for the pair to decline. They know Brooklyn wants Nicola to be happy and finds it hard to make plans that might go against her wishes, so they’ll try to fight his corner for him,” the source told the publication.
Mirror Online has approached Nicola and Brooklyn's representative for comment.
