Police have reportedly been handed a 'stained' glove that was found just yards away from where Nicola Bulley disappeared nearly three weeks ago. The missing mum-of-two was last seen walking her dog on the morning of January 27 in the village of St Michael's on Wyre after dropping her two young daughters off at primary school.
Detectives are maintaining their controversial theory that the 45-year-old fell into the River Wyre during a '10-minute window' where Nicola's actions remain unknown between 9:10am and 9:20am. However, new claims have emerged that could cast further doubt on this hypothesis as it's been reported that two walkers discovered a blue glove on February 7, in the field that Nicola disappeared.
It's alleged that the 'stained' garment was handed to police who bagged it and took it away, the Mirror reports. The Sun has published an image of the blue ski glove as it's claimed that a video of the discovery was uploaded to TikTok last week but has since been deleted.
The person who shared the video claimed the glove was stained but did not specify with what substance. These claims have not been confirmed by Lancashire Police and the force have been approached for comment.
Police are understood to be sticking with their main hypothesis that the mortgage advisor tragically fell into the river, after the alleged glove was discovered. However, officers have been scouring the area for weeks and brought in a team of forensic experts to thoroughly search the river Wyre but no trace of the mum has been found.
Nicola Bulley's husband, Paul Ansell is not convinced by this theory as he says he is '100 percent convinced' that his wife isn't in the river after speaking with specialist divers who told him they were certain Nicola wasn't in the water. Many social media users are also speculating what really happened to the missing mum as one woman reportedly said online: “Has anyone heard anything about the glove that was found in the early hours on the field she was last seen on the TikTok live?
“I was watching it live about 1am. A couple went on to the field last night, found a glove there with a stain on it? They reported it to the police and bagged it and gave it to an officer."
The mysterious case has gripped the nation and brought out a lot of online sleuths who have been dubbed as 'armchair detectives' that are interfering with the investigation. A security company was enforced over the weekend in the area where Nicola disappeared in an attempt to keep 'TikTokers and YouTubers' away from the site.
The extra measures were brought in to provide 'reassurance' to locals who said they felt unsafe due to people trespassing in their gardens and filming their properties. Spencer Sutcliffe, who owns the security firm patrolling the area, said members of the public were trespassing on private property and breaking into an old house that overlooks the River Wyre.
Nicola has now been missing for almost three weeks but her friends and neighbours have not given up hope that she will be found. Yesterday, well-wishers left hand-written "messages of hope" that the mum-of-two will be found safe.
The notes began over the weekend and are written on flower-shaped yellow ribbons which have been left over a bridge over the River Wyre in the village. Newly left messages say "hope is the last thing ever lost" and "Nikki, I love you, come home".
Others wrote "we need you home Nicola", "praying for your safe return" and "I love you" and tied them to the bridge on Sunday. A large poster with an image of Ms Bulley has also been attached to the railings.
Police extended the search for Nicola's body to the sea on Thursday after detectives said finding her "in the open sea becomes more of a possibility". However, officers are still investigating the riverbank where the 45-year-olds phone was found abandoned on a bench while connected to a work call on the day she went missing.
