Nico Raskin breaks silence on 'small' Rangers injury setback

Nico Raskin has broken his silence on his Rangers injury blow.

The midfielder has been sidelined with a calf issue after taking a kick in the win over St Johnstone at the weekend.

Raskin was not involved in Rangers training this morning with Michael Beale confirming the injury news this afternoon.

Beale will also be without Danilo, Todd Cantwell and Kieran Dowell for Thursday night's match against Real Betis.

The Ibrox boss confirmed: "Nico is out until after the international break with a calf problem.

"He took a kick in the game and afterwards it has given him a problem in his muscle.

"Him, Todd and Danilo are the three that are missing."

However, Raskin has now downplayed the issue as a "small injury" and assured Rangers supporters he is already working towards a comeback.

Posting on Instagram, he wrote: "Unfortunately I incurred a small injury.

"I'm trying to get back as quick as possible!"

While Raskin's knock comes as a blow for Beale, he was able to set out a timeline for Danilo's return after successful surgery.

The Brazilian will return to non-contact training before a planned comeback for the week following the October internationals.

Beale explained: "I saw Danilo yesterday. He still looks sore if I am honest.

"He had successful surgery on the areas, it’s not just one area impacted. I think he’ll be back in non-contact training around the back end of the international window.

"Ideally he will be back the first week after the October internationals, but it might be a couple of weeks after. We will just have to see, he has another consultancy in two weeks."
