Nicky Campbell slams decision to postpone paedophile teacher's extradition appeal hearing

Nicky Campbell has slammed a decision to postpone the hearing of an appeal against the extradition of a paedophile teacher at his old school.

The pervert, known only as "Edgar", 82, was due to appear at in court today where fresh evidence was to be put. But an arrangement was made for him not to attend and his appeal case was adjourned until March.

TV star Campbell, 61, who also hosts BBC 5 Live Breakfast, said: "It's soul destroying for the survivors.

"Dozens of men have broken down to me who've said they've never spoken about this before and still feel the shame. It didn't happen to me, but I saw it happen."

Campbell told in July how, as a 10-year-old, he saw "Edgar" abusing a classmate at Edinburgh Academy.

It sparked a flood of other complaints from former pupils.

"Edgar", who now lives in a Cape Town retirement complex, admitted touching kids during the 60s and 70s. South Africa agreed to extradite him, but he appealed and was granted bail.
