Nickelodeon Experience comes to Edinburgh this weekend: Here's everything you need to know

The Nickelodeon Experience arrives in Edinburgh this weekend, and is set to give capital youngsters 'the chance to explore the worlds of their favourite Nickelodeon TV shows'.

There was quite a bit of buzz about the event in March when we broke the news that the 'first of its kind' experience was coming to the city this summer.

Speaking recently about the its arrival in Edinburgh, George Wood, founder of The Luna Cinema - the producers of The Nickelodeon Experience - said: “With less than a month to go, we cannot wait for The Nickelodeon Experience to officially kickstart this summer!

"For years we’ve wanted to develop a truly interactive experience that allowed kids to immerse themselves in the worlds of their favourite TV shows, just as we do with Friends fans at FriendsFest and film lovers with our Luna Cinema screenings."

So, for those considering going along, here's what you need to know:

Where is The Nickelodeon Experience taking place?

The experience is being hosted at the city's Saughton Park.

When is it in the city when can you go along?

The gates will open for the first time tomorrow (July 2), with the final day on July 14. Sessions are booked in advance and ticketholders are able to arrive 30 mins prior to their booked session, with opening hours listed as between 9am and 6pm.

What age do the kids have to be to be able to attend?

The Nickelodeon Experience is suitable for children age two to fourteen years old. The Nickelodeon Zones are recommended for kids between 7 and 14, while the Nick. Jr Zones are recommended for youngsters aged 2 to 6 years old.

What can you expect to find at the experience?

Organisers describe it as 'an epic immersive adventure for the whole family, bringing the very best of Nickelodeon to life' and say: "Adventure seekers, aged 2-14 years old, will have the chance to explore the worlds of their favourite Nickelodeon TV shows where they’ll get to map their own journey and curate their own fun at this first-of-its-kind experience featuring ten activity zones.

"For the first time ever, kids can go behind the scenes and up close to some of their favourite TV shows including PAW Patrol, SpongeBob SquarePants, Henry Danger, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and many more.

"Offering a variety of action-packed activities centred around Nickelodeon’s most popular TV shows, explorers big and small can take their pick from an exciting line-up of entertainment, including a timed immersive escape room, an interactive air maze, a pirate treasure hunt and the opportunity to get slimed (the ultimate Nickelodeon honour!)"

How much are tickets and are they still available?

Tickets are priced as follows:

  • Children (4–14 years) – from £29.50
  • Early years (2-3 years) – from £25
  • Adult – from £19.50
  • Under 2s – free

How long does it take?

Organisers recommend families allow between two and three hours for a typical visit, with the tickets covering a three hour slot.

What about food and drink?

There will be food available on site including healthy snacks, vegetarian and vegan options and there is no need to bring food 'unless you really want to!'

Will parking be available?

There is no parking at the Saughton Park site, expect blue badge spaces. For more on transport and travel to Saughton Park, you can visit the official Nickelodeon Experience website here.

What about adults?

The Nickelodeon team say: "If your kids are exploring the Nick Jr. zones (recommended for ages 2-6), we do require that at least one adult accompany a maximum of 3 children at all times.
