The Los Angeles Rams made a lot of big plays in their win over the Arizona Cardinals, including a pick-six and a 40-yard pass from Odell Beckham Jr. to Cam Akers. But one play that is being forgotten in the win is Nick Scott’s big hit on A.J. Green.
It was a perfect throw by Kyler Murray against the Rams’ zone defense, appearing to drop the ball perfectly in Green’s hands. But Scott came over from the middle and laid a big hit on Green, dislodging the ball to cause the incompletion.
It was initially ruled a catch and fumble, but after review, it was overturned and called an incomplete pass. On the very next play, Murray threw a pick-six to put the Rams up 21-0.
The Rams announced Thursday that Scott won the NFL’s “Way to Play” award for his hit on Green, displaying proper technique and clean tackling. Scott got the start with Jordan Fuller and Taylor Rapp out, taking full advantage of the opportunity.
