Ahead of Saturday’s showdown between Alabama and Tennessee, Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban had one major request for the student section, and they delivered on Saturday.
Saban asked the student section at Bryan-Denny Stadium to make lots of noise whenever Tennessee’s offense had the ball because the Volunteers run a fast-paced offense.
“You can have a huge impact with the noise that you make,” Saban said. “This team’s trying to go fast. They run 2.7 plays every minute in the game. So you can affect that and disrupt that by making noise.”
Tennessee took a fast lead, though, going up 20–7 in the first half. The student section stepped up their game in the second half it seems, as the Volunteers didn’t score a single point after halftime. Alabama came back and won 34–20.
After the win, Saban ran over to the student section and gave them a huge round of applause. The students returned the favor by erupting in cheers for the school’s beloved coach.
This was a sight not often seen for Alabama fans.
You think this one meant something extra for Alabama? Saban ran over to the student section to give them a round of applause — a first, I believe. Then Milroe joined in on the fun. pic.twitter.com/7dpeyrLDQD
