Nick Pope is the first Premier League goalkeeper to keep 10 clean sheets this season after another impressive shutout. Newcastle United landed a bargain last summer, stumping up just £10million to land the England international.
There were question marks about whether the Magpies needed a new shot-stopper as Martin Dubravka - recently recalled from a loan spell at Manchester United - had reigned as the undisputed number one for almost half a decade. But any doubts have been quickly put to bed by his seamless transition to life on Tyneside.
Pope capped off a customarily solid performance with a crucial save to deny Eddie Nketiah midway through the second half. Remarkably, the 0-0 draw at the Emirates Stadium was his sixth consecutive blank.

That feat equals former goalie Kevin Carr’s long-standing club record, with this weekend’s FA Cup clash against Sheffield Wednesday up next. Since August 2019, only Brazilian duo Ederson (61) and Alisson (47) at Manchester City and Liverpool have kept more top-flight clean sheets than Pope (45).
The 30-year-old is chasing the first Premier League Golden Glove award of his career. Given to the goalkeeper with the most clean sheets throughout the campaign, Joe Hart was the last English winner in 2013.
