Nick Kyrgios made his eagerly-awaited return to the court on Monday afternoon at the Brisbane International alongside Novak Djokovic.
The Australian tennis star has endured a miserable two years away from the sport having been plagued by injuries. In 2023, Kyrgios had reconstructive surgery on his wrist which has allowed him to continue his career.
Kyrgios’ outing was his first in 24 months and a jubilant home support were delighted to see their hero doing what he does best. Not only that, Kyrgios got to stutt his stuff alongside friend and 24-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic.
Those in attendance at the Pat Rafter Arena certainly got their money’s worth after a dazzling doubles display from the world famous duo. In theory, it was more of an exhibition match.
Djokovic wowed onlookers when he hit a stunning shot around the net. Kyrgios went one better when his tweener helped win a point and the Aussie star lapped up the plaudits.
Kyrgios ran along the side of the court celebrating the cheers from the home crowd before high-fiving his partner. There’s no doubt about it, Kyrgios is back!

Nick Kyrgios Is Set For The 2025 Australian Open
After Nick Kyrgios and Novak Djokovic beat Alexander Erler and Andreas Mies 6-4 6-7 (4-7) 10-8 in Brisbane, attentions will soon turn to the first Grand Slam event of 2025.
The blockbuster performance and partnership with Djokovic is the perfect remedy for Kyrgios going into next month’s extravaganza.
After meeting in the 2022 Wimbledon final, Kyrgios and Djokovic have developed a solid friendship on and off the tennis court.
Ironically, that is Kyrgios’ best performance in a men’s singles major. Djokovic got the better of the 29-year-old in London but the Aussie star will be hoping to go one better in Melbourne.
The tournament gets underway on January 6 and there will be high expectations for Kyrgios to perform well on home soil. Although, he will need to tread carefully owing to his injury concerns.
Before then, Kyrgios and Djokovic are back in doubles action on Tuesday afternoon. They will face Michael Venus and Nikola Mektic in the last 16 in the Brisbane International.
