Nick Knowles issues update on future of BBC DIY SOS

Nick Knowles has issued an update on the future of BBC's DIY SOS.

The 60-year-old shared an update on Twitter as he responded to a fan with a request to help a family in need of a house makeover. He was tagged in a tweet with a link to a story about a 40-year-old police officer who had a severe stroke and needed major house adaptations to return to his home in Wigan.

The tweet from @Juicyj1976 read: "I know friends of the family have written in please please consider this family for one of your wonderful makeovers. Darren was one of the first on scene at MEN bombing."

Another read: "Let’s get Darren home @MrNickKnowles he’s missed too much time with his family. He’s served us, let’s serve him."

In Nick's reply he confirmed there has been no house builds commissioned yet for this year. He also added that all applications must go through the BBC to "ensure fairness".

The tweet read: "As I said to the friends of the family and many others whilst I empathise & wish we could help - we have no house builds commissioned yet for this year & all applications must go thru the BBC website in order to ensure fairness.

Fans thanked Nick for retweeting the story, which includes a fundraising page,
