Nick Carter has broken his silence on his brother Aaron's death, posting an emotional tribute to his younger sibling on Instagram.
Aaron, 34, who had top 10 hits in the UK with Crush on You and Crazy Little Party Girl, was reportedly discovered at his home in California after police officers received a 911 call at 11am on Saturday.
A representative told PA news agency: "Right now its a really bad time we're trying to figure out what happened and what the cause of it was. We’re just as upset as everyone and hope that fans can give thoughts and prayers to his family.”
Nick, who is currently touring Europe with the Backstreet Boys, with dates in London and Manchester on the schedule for this week, took to Instagram after many other stars, including Hilary Duff, paid their own tributes to Aaron. Next to a series of photos of them over the years, Nick wrote: "My heart is broken. Even though my brother and I have had a complicated relationship, my love for him has never ever faded. I have always held on to the hope that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed."
The 42-year-old continued: "Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss, but the truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here. I will miss my brother more than anyone will ever know."
He ended the post: "I love you Chizz. Now you can finally have the peace you could never find here on earth….I love you baby brother."
The problems between Nick and Aaron made headline news in America, when Nick filed a restraining order against his younger brother in 2019, claiming that Aaron had confessed to “harbouring intentions” of killing Nick’s then-pregnant wife and their unborn child. Aaron denied the charges, taking to Twitter to respond: "I am astounded at the accusations being made against me and I do not wish harm to anyone, especially my family.”
