Nick Bosa becomes highest paid defensive player in NFL history

If you’ve been following the NFL news, we don’t have to tell you that former Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa has been in a holdout over contract negotiations with the San Francisco 49ers.

That appears to be no more, as news surfaced on Wednesday via ESPN’s NFL insider, Adam Schefter that Bosa has agreed to a massive contract that will easily make him the highest paid defensive player in NFL history. The contract is reportedly a five-year extension worth $170 million, with $122 million of that guaranteed.

Since entering the NFL, Bosa has become more or less an instant success. He won the league’s Defensive Rookie of the Year for the 2019-2020 season, then sustained a season-ending knee injury in September of 2020 before coming back even stronger the next two years, eventually taking home the NFL Defensive Player of the Year last season.

Bosa will now apparently continue his career in the Bay area and look to cement himself as a disruptive source off the edge to hopefully lead the 49ers back to the Super Bowl in the near future.
