Nick Ball becomes WBC champion on Tyson Fury undercard at Wembley

Nick Ball beat Isaac Lowe at Wembley on Saturday night to claim the WBC international featherweight crown. He won the fight after a member of Lowe's team threw in the towel during the sixth round of their fight.

The 25-year-old from Liverpool knocked down the more experienced Lowe in the second round before his opponent, a member of the Fury camp, regained his composure under the Wembley arch.

Lowe suffered a large cut under his eye early on in the fight, something which was subject to a doctor's assessment after the fourth round of the fight.

He was deemed fit to carry on and showed fight to keep landing blows to Ball as he enjoyed somewhat of a resurgence in the bout.

Further treatment was administered after round five, before a sustained barrage of blows prompted Lowe's corner to throw in the towel during the sixth round.

The win means that Nick Ball can move on up through the featherweight division with sights set on fights against fellow Brits Leigh Wood, Josh Warrington or even Jack Catterall in the future.
