Nicholas Rossi rape accuser welcomes move to extradite him from Scotland to US

The woman who accused fantasist Nicholas Rossi of raping her has welcomed moves to send him to the US to face trial.

Rossi is wanted in the States on a rape charge after being tied to the crime by his DNA, which was taken by police investigating his alleged 2008 attack.

He has been fighting moves in Scotland to extradite him to the US after claiming to be an Irishman called Arthur Knight.

A judge will rule on the case this week.

His alleged victim, Mary Grebinski, 33, told how she was determined he should face justice in the US.

Mary, of Ohio, said: “None of this would have happened if it wasn’t for me pursuing some kind of resolution to this. If he wasn’t on the sex offender registry and I didn’t keep pursuing legal charges against him, amid him fighting and playing dirty, none of this would have happened.

“All of it was a series of events that I caused because I chose to prosecute him and because I chose to go after him –there would be no extradition without me. I was the hero in this case.”

She made the claims in a YouTube video posted to the website on Friday.

She also revealed she is spending her time travelling and attending music concerts and is now “over” the attack. Mary added: “I’ve been travelling a lot. I went to Atlanta for work, I went to Tennessee for fun, I went to Michigan for fun, I just went to a Morgan Wallen concert in Chicago.

“I went to Louisiana for work, so I got to see New Orleans, I got to see Baton Rouge.

“I bought a Jeep so I’m taking it out every weekend, I’m hiking all the time.

“I’m going back to school for my Bachelor’s, and my Master’s. I don’t care, I don’t care. I’m kind of over it. There’s nothing I can do or say at this point that’s going to change the effects and the situation in Scotland.

“It’s kind of out of my hands and I cannot let it disturb my peace any more, because I’m over it.”

Rossi is accused by US police of attacking Mary in a stairwell at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio, after reaching out to her on social media site MySpace.

In the clip, she said Rossi added her on MySpace in late 2007, told her she was “very beautiful” and that he wanted a relationship.

But she told him she wasn’t interested and they became friends who chatted regularly online.

She said she first met him in person in early 2008 and that he attacked her that same day.

Rossi’s extradition hearing is to decide whether he should be sent to America to stand trial.

The 35-year-old, who fled the States in 2017, met his wife, Miranda, in the UK.

Just nine days after their wedding, he faked his own death in his US home state of Rhode Island.

But he was caught in Glasgow in 2021 after contracting Covid and being taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

That led to a series of bizarre court appearances over the last two years where he maintained that he was actually Irish and called Arthur Knight.

These claims have been rejected by the judge presiding over the case.

The extradition hearing at Edinburgh Sheriff Court continues.
