A new year means plenty of new Dead by Daylight survivors on the way – and one of them is Nicholas Cage, who’s playing, well, Nicholas Cage. Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour Interactive announced the surprise inclusion as a precursor to the hit multiplayer game’s anniversary broadcast on May 23, 2023, and gave a bit of background about what to expect from the cameo.
Cage won’t be voicing a character from a movie. He’s Nicholas Cage himself, transported through the Fog into the horror game by virtue of his acting ability. Cage’s Dead by Daylight survivor will feature perks and skills inspired by acting and the idea of getting into a role, though Behaviour was coy about what exactly to expect. The team plans to reveal more information on July 5, 2023.
The team did say that Cage is a standalone survivor, though, and won’t debut with a Killer connected to one of his past movies.
During a recent press event that GLHF attended, Behaviour said the team tried negotiating cameos such as this in the past, though they often fell through for one reason or another until now.
It’s the real deal as well, not just a model who resembles Cage. Behaviour offered to cast a voice actor to bring all the screams, grunts, and other Dead by Daylight noises to life, since that particular kind of work often involves strain that some traditional actors aren’t accustomed to. Cage responded by saying there has “never been a [Nicholas Cage] voice soundalike and there won’t be one now” and agreed to voice every necessary sound.
The Dead by Daylight anniversary stream premiers on May 23, 2023. These usually drop quite a bit of information about what to expect from the game in the next several months, so expect more surprises soon.
