'Nice lad' shot multiple times by gunman on bike
A 'nice lad' was shot multiple times in the legs as he walked on a street in Croxteth this evening.
The victim, a man in his 20s, was hit by a hail of bullets when the shooter opened fire around 7.15pm on Cubert Road. Detectives say the gunman is believed to have fled on an electric pedal bike in the direction of Croxteth Hall Lane.
Armed response officers, forensic investigators and paramedics descended on the scene and the victim was rushed to hospital. Merseyside Police said his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening at this stage.

Forensic, house-to-house and CCTV enquiries are ongoing. Forensic investigators in white protective PPE could be seen focusing on an area of pavement outside a property near the junction with Altcross Road, close to a health centre.
Investigators could also be seen taking pictures of a black Volkswagen car. Acting Chief Inspector Hamish Rawcliffe said: “The investigation is in the very early stage as we seek to establish what has taken place. We believe the injured man was in Cubert Road when shots were fired in his direction, hitting him in the legs.
Mum shouts 'I'm proud of you son' as dad-of-six jailed for revenge attack
A dad-of-six battered his sister’s boyfriend after he stole pain medication from his mum’s home.
Damian Jebb attacked Jason Barham in Birkenhead earlier this year after the culmination of a long running dispute stemming from Mr Barham’s theft of the medication to fuel his own addiction. More than a dozen family members and supporters watched as Jebb, from Tranmere, was jailed on Friday at Liverpool Crown Court, with many shouting messages of support.
Louise McCloskey, prosecuting, said the origins of the attack were rooted in Mr Barham stealing Tramadol from Jebb’s mum a number of times while visiting her home. He told police he battled an addiction to the medication and admitted taking them when he went round.
Ms McCloskey said: “He said he then heard from someone that his girlfriend’s brother, the defendant, was looking for him and ‘wanted to batter him’.” Judge Trevor-Jones jailed Jebb, of Derby Road, was jailed for two years and seven months.
Family members waved and shouted messages of support, with one woman shouting “love you bro” and another, believed to be Jebb’s mum, shouting “I love you son and I’m proud of you”.
Roads closed as man on apartment building roof causes traffic chaos
A major police scene is in place after reports of a man on the roof of an apartment building.
Emergency services rushed to the scene of Wilbraham Street which connects Scotland Road to Great Homer Street. Officers then closed Scotland Road in both directions, as well as the Kingsway Wallasey Tunnel exit, heading towards Bootle.
Merseyside Police confirmed that the closure is in place after reports of a man on the roof of Picturehouse apartments. The scene has been in place since around 6am this morning, on Monday, July 11.
The Scotland Road closure is between between A567 Stanley Road (Sainsbury's) and Kingsway Wallasey Tunnel. It's causing heavy traffic to Walton Lane and New Islington.
Also on surrounding routes, particularly along Vauxhall Road, Great Homer Street, St Anne Street and Leeds Street. Motorists are being asked to avoid the area.
A spokesperson for the force said: "We can confirm that officers are currently on Scotland Road following reports of a male on the roof of an apartment building. Officers attended at the Picturehouse at 6.10am today, Monday 11th July.
"Road closures are currently in place in the surrounding area while the matter is being dealt with. Diversions are in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area."
