Nic White mocked and heckled at airport after 'disgraceful' incident

A video has emerged of Australia scrum-half Nic White being mocked by Springbok fans at the airport following his actions during their win over South Africa on the weekend.

White has been rounded on by former players and fans in the aftermath of the Wallabies victory after his theatrical reaction to Faf de Klerk's handing glancing across his face. The scrum-half clutched towards his face and dropped to his knees shortly after the incident, with de Klerk then yellow carded.

Unsurprisingly, it's in South Africa where his actions have been most heavily criticised. Some have accused White of play-acting, with former Springbok fly-half Butch James hyperbolically saying White's actions were "a disgrace to the game of rugby".

Former Springboks captain John Smit tweeted: “(White) just killed a little piece of rugby’s soul today.” There have even been calls for White to publicly apologise.

South African journalist Brendan Nel posted: “Nic White’s Oscar may be celebrated by those who don’t like the Boks. But it a poor advert for the game. This isn’t football. Theatrics may win you a penalty but they are a blight on the game. It is an embarrassment.”

However, White's bashing didn't end there - with the scrum-half also getting it in the neck at the airport. As the Wallabies prepared to fly out of Adelaide, a group of Springboks supporters couldn't resist sledging the half-back.

“Hey Nic, you’re alive? You’re alive!” one fan shouted.

“A most horrific injury, mate,” another added.

“We didn’t think you were going to make it. We thought you were in the ICU my brother,” the third proclaimed.

In fairness to White, he took the heckling in good spirits. The video shows him laughing along with the barbs being thrown his way.
