Niall Horan spotted at GAA match as local club pick up rare championship title

Niall Horan witnessed history over the weekend as Wandsworth Gaels, a club which Horan formerly played for, won the London Junior Football Championship for the very first time.

The Gaels defeated Tara by 0-10 to 0-09 in a tight contest in London on Sunday and Horan was in attendance to cheer on his old pals.

"I was with Wandsworth at the very start when we couldn't win a game and now I'm delighted to be here as they win the junior after five years," The former One Direction star told London GAA after the game.

"I've great friends in the club and looking forward to the celebrations in the Hop Pole tonight!"

The Mullingar crooner isn't the only high profile person affiliated to Wandsworth Gaels. In fact, the star power was arguably greater on the pitch than the sidelines, as former professional rugby player and The Apprentice star Conor Gilsenen lined out for the winners.

While Wandsworth are based in London, the Mullingar GAA community can rightly take joy in the historic victory as Horan, Gilsenen, Martin Devine and Darragh Daly all hail from the Westmeath town.
