NHS Tayside’s vaccination teams have now reached the extraordinary milestone of one million jabs delivered since the COVID vaccination programme started in December 2020.
That equates to 10,989 vaccinations delivered every week for the past 91 weeks – with 35,000 jabs being delivered every week at the peak.
The 1,000,000 total includes first, second, third and booster doses, as well as the first lot of winter 2022 COVID vaccinations.
Director of public health Dr Emma Fletcher said: “Staff from across NHS Tayside, the health and social care partnerships and GP practices, as well as colleagues in local councils, voluntary organisations and the armed forces, came together to deliver the biggest vaccination programme in history.
“A huge thank you to every single person who has helped us reach one million vaccinations.
“We are also very grateful to the people of Tayside who have answered the call to roll up their sleeves and get vaccinated.
“You are all continuing to play your part in helping us do everything we can to continue to manage COVID.”
The winter COVID and flu vaccination programme has begun with health and social care workers, care home residents and staff, and those who are housebound the first to be offered their jabs.
