NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is asking for the public’s feedback and experience of being discharged from hospital.
The health board says this will help shape the board’s approach to supporting families, patients, and staff to facilitate early discharges back into a home environment from hospital.
The survey forms part of the ‘Home for Lunch’ initiative, which is aimed at those patients ready to go home and not reliant on any additional care services being put in place ahead of going home.

The campaign seeks to highlight the benefits of being discharged as early in the day as possible, both on the patient going home, and on patient flow through the rest of the hospital.
NHSGGC is keen to hear from anyone who has been involved in the care discharge process to find out more about their own experience, the challenges faced in getting home and what their wider understanding is of the benefits of a pre-noon discharge.
Anyone wishing to contribute can fill out the following survey by the 30th of January here.
Professor Angela Wallace, Nurse Director at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, said: “We know that for our patients ready to go home - who have a suitable home environment waiting for them - staying in hospital any longer than required can be detrimental – particularly for elderly patients. We also know that if you are able to get home in time for lunch on your planned day of discharge, this means we are able to help other patients who might be waiting for a bed and potentially minimize any extra time spent in A&E.
“That’s why it’s so important for us to understand what support you might need to get home. This can be as simple as having a conversation with your nursing team alongside your loved ones so we can plan your discharge together, provide any additional support if required and ensure everything goes as smoothly as possible.
“We’re keen to hear from anyone who has been involved in the care discharge process to find out a little bit more about their own experience, and what, if any challenges might have faced them in getting home pre-noon.
“The findings will be used to inform our own policies internally to ensure we’re providing as much support as possible for patients and their carers so those ready to leave hospital, are able to get ‘Home For Lunch’.”
