NHS Ayrshire staff past and present praised on milestone day for health service

Top brass at NHS Ayrshire & Arran have today issued a special ‘thank you’ to all staff, as the organisation marks the 75th Anniversary since the birth of the NHS.

Lesley Bowie, chairperson of the NHS Ayrshire & Arran Board, said today’s milestone (Wednesday, July 5) highlights 75 years of ‘making a real difference’ to people’s lives.

She said: “It’s all down to our staff. Our staff are our most valuable asset, and we should be incredibly proud of the fantastic work going on across the organisation.

“Every day, I hear examples of staff going the extra mile. They do this because they are committed to providing safe, high-quality care.

“There are so many examples of fantastic programmes and initiatives – in our hospitals, in primary care, in the community, and across our support services. And every member of staff plays a part.

“So, I want to say thank you to all staff – past and present – for your dedication in providing care and support to those who need it most.”

Claire Burden, chief executive of NHS Ayrshire & Arran, echoed Ms Bowie’s sentiments.

She said: “As we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the NHS, we can look back with pride on what we have achieved in Ayrshire and Arran.

“Across health and social care, our teams work hard to provide safe and effective care for patients and service users when they need emergency or planned care and treatment.

“I know how difficult that has been over the last few years, with the increased demands on our service.

“Our staff continue to demonstrate care, compassion and dedication for our citizens, despite the challenges we face.

“So, today on the anniversary of the NHS, I want to thank each and every one of you.

“You should be incredibly proud of everything you do.

“We can look back at the last 75 years with pride, and look forward to the next 75 years with confidence. By working together and supporting each other, we can look to the future no matter what it brings.”
