During Game 4 of the first-round series between Winnipeg and Colorado, Jets forward Vladislav Namestnikov was taken to the hospital for evaluation after being struck on the left side of his face by a puck. The incident occurred in the third period when Namestnikov was attempting to avoid a shot from teammate Nate Schmidt. Trainers quickly attended to Namestnikov, who left the ice with assistance and a towel pressed to his face.
Following the game, Jets coach Rick Bowness provided no further update on Namestnikov's condition. The Colorado Avalanche currently lead the series 3-1.
In a separate incident during Game 4, Nashville captain Roman Josi and Vancouver defenseman Tyler Myers also suffered facial injuries. Josi was hit near his right ear and briefly returned to the ice before seeking treatment. Myers took a puck to the face near his nose and required immediate attention from trainers.
This marks the second concerning injury for the Jets in the series, as defenseman Brenden Dillon sustained a laceration on his hand during a previous game. Despite his desire to continue playing, Dillon was ruled out for the most recent game due to the extent of his injury.
As the playoffs continue, player safety remains a top priority, with teams and medical staff taking necessary precautions to ensure the well-being of all athletes involved.
