NHL Match Erupts In 10-Man Brawl After 2 Seconds

Epic ice hockey brawl erupts two seconds into NHL game

A recent NHL match between the New York Rangers and the New Jersey Devils quickly turned chaotic as a 10-man brawl broke out just two seconds into the game. The intense altercation resulted in eight players being ejected from the match, which took place at Madison Square Garden on April 3.

The confrontation was sparked right at the opening face-off when Rangers' Matt Rempe and Devils' Kurtis MacDermaid, who had a history of clashes, immediately engaged in a physical altercation. This initial scuffle quickly escalated, with all 10 starters dropping their gloves and engaging in one-on-one brawls across the ice.

Referees swiftly intervened to break up the fights, with the Rempe-MacDermaid bout lasting approximately 80 seconds. Despite Rempe receiving more hits, he managed to energize the crowd before the referees enforced NHL rules regarding fighting penalties.

Ultimately, it was determined that the fight between Rangers' Jimmy Vesey and Devils' Curtis Lazar had initiated first, leading to the ejection of all eight players involved in the brawls, including Rempe and MacDermaid. Following the chaotic on-ice events, both teams' coaches exchanged heated words.

In the end, the New York Rangers emerged victorious with a 4-3 win over the New Jersey Devils, securing a dramatic conclusion to a game marked by intense physicality and heated exchanges.
