The NHL’s New York Rangers defeated the Montreal Canadians 4-3 on Saturday, November 30, 2024. The game had an excitement conclusion. Kaapo Kaako scored the winning goal on a power play with 24 seconds left in the game. With the win, the Rangers go to 13-9-1 on the season. The Canadians fall to 8-12-3.
That was not the only excitement in the Saturday afternoon affair. A heated exchange between the Montreal Canadians winger Josh Anderson and New York Rangers defenseman Jacob Trouba in the first period garnered much attention. It went on for what felt like a while with officials, players, and fans looking on.
ESPN’s PK Suban showed a video of the fight and openly asked if it was the fight of the year.

Trouba’s effort and guts are believed to have given the Rangers a shot in the arm. The win over the Canadians stopped a five game losing streak.
This is the energy the #NYR needed. All it takes is a moment ,shift, then period to regain what was lost. Confidence.

Marc Dumont called it a “rather fun fight” where “Josh Anderson feeds Jacob Trouba his lunch.”
NHL fans are not sure it makes a difference past today. Some are not ready to call it the fight of the year since it is early in the season. Time will tell.

Surprisingly ex-NFL quarterback and frustrated New York Rangers fan Boomer Esiason who spoke out about the team’s level of effort during the losing streak did not have a comment.
