Rob Ray is one of the toughest players in NHL history. In 15 years in the league, he racked up an astonishing 3,207 penalty minutes, the sixth most all-time. These days, Ray has a far less physical job, but it still comes with its own dangers.
Ray works as an ice-level reporter for Sabres broadcasts on MSG Network. In the third period of Monday night’s game against the Coyotes, Ray was struck by an errant puck right between his eyebrows. The incident left him bleeding from the forehead as he attempted to stop the bleeding with a towel.

But after the broadcast returned from commercial, Ray was still between the benches, ready to broadcast the final minutes of the game as he continued to bleed from the head.

“I’m all good down here,” Ray assured his colleagues. “I’m just trying to clean my glasses up a little bit so I can put them on and see through them again. I can’t use my page anymore that I have my notes on because it’s kind of littered in blood.”
It’s been 20 years since Ray last appeared in an NHL game. Getting busted open like that must have brought back fond memories of his time as a player.
