News of Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers agreeing to a new two-year, $75 million deal had the NFL world buzzing on Wednesday afternoon.
Following the report from Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, many were in shock that the four-time NFL league MVP would agree to this sizable reduction in pay.
Agreeing to this enormous pay-cut not only means that Rodgers will likely be in New York for more than one season, as he has recently hinted, but also indicates that he wants to assist the team in surrounding him with the most weapons possible in order to help the club win their second Super Bowl in franchise history.
Former Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III believed that Rodgers agreeing to the new deal would motivate his teammates to lay it all on the line in 2023.
“The Jets players are going to play their MOTHER FUDGING ASSES OFF for Aaron Rodgers. The man voluntarily took a $35 Million pay cut so his team could have the flexibility to keep the current talent around him and acquire more over the next 2 years. OTHERWORLDLY team friendly deal,” tweeted Griffin III.

While, the ESPN College Football and NFL Analyst focused on the effects of the deal on his teammates, others like Emmanuel Acho believed this move by the veteran quarterback “guaranteed that the Jets are going far this season.”
