After agreeing to one-year deal worth up to $6 million with the Ravens, star defensive end Jadeveon Clowney elicited wild reactions when it was announced that he had chosen jersey No. 24.
The number, normally reserved for corners, safeties or running backs, was an odd choice after he previously wore Nos. 90 and 99 during his nine seasons in the NFL.
In his collegiate days, Clowney wore the No. 7 during his three years at South Carolina.
After an injury-plagued 2022 season that resulted in just two sacks in 12 games, the veteran standout is apparently hoping to shake things up with the bold number choice.

After being selected with the No. 1 in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Texans, the three-time Pro Bowl enjoyed solid five seasons teaming up with J.J. Watt. The 30-year-old pass rusher Clowney, spent the last two seasons with the Browns after brief stints with the Seahawks and Titans.
Clowney, who joins a solid Baltimore defensive front, drew a wide array of responses highlighted by new Ravens teammate Marlon Humphrey, former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III as well as stunned media and fans.

I know Clowney didn’t get a ton of sacks but they really didn’t have to move him to corner https://t.co/OjzaKUyNIX
