The Kansas City Chiefs took care of business in the wild card round of the NFL playoffs at home in frigid conditions. They beat the Miami Dolphins 26-7 at Arrowhead Stadium where wind chill was colder than -20 degrees Fahrenheit.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes passes for 262 yards and a touchdown and running back Isiah Pacheco rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown. The Chiefs controlled the line of scrimmage, rushing for 147 yards against a decimated Miami defense and possessed the ball over 34 minutes of the game.
Receiver Rashee Rice caught eight passes for 130 yards and a score to lead the Chiefs, while tight end Travis Kelce caught seven passes for 71 yards.
The Dolphins were 1-for-12 on third down and gained only 264 yards of offense. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa had a touchdown pass but threw an interception.
The Chiefs now wait for the result of Monday’s Steeler-Bills matchup to know whether they will face the Bills or Texans and whether they will play at home or in Buffalo.
